AAC presidential candidate unveils revolutionary 20-point manifesto, promises free education from cradle to university, semester grants for students, and AI-powered classrooms
Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has unveiled a sweeping education reform agenda that would abolish all public examination fees, establish free education at every level, and transform Nigeria’s learning landscape with cutting-edge technology if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
In a policy document shared on his verified X handle on Monday, Sowore declared that “no child’s future will be determined by poverty” under his administration, promising that WAEC, NECO, and all other public examination fees would be scrapped entirely.
“Education is a right, not a privilege,” Sowore declared, challenging Nigerians to “read it, share it, debate it” as part of a revolutionary movement to reshape the nation’s educational future.
Key Highlights of Sowore’s 20-Point Education Revolution:
· Total Fee Abolition: WAEC, NECO, and all public exam fees eliminated
· Free Education: From early childhood through university zero tuition
· Student Grants: Semester financial support for all public tertiary institution students
· New Structure: 5 years primary + 5 years secondary + 4 years university
· Community Colleges: Every LGA to offer 2-year associate degree programmes
· AI Classrooms: Coding from primary school, robotics, data science, cybersecurity
· Teachers First: Better salaries, housing, research opportunities
· Polytechnic Upgrade: All polytechnics and monotechnics to become universities
· Smart Infrastructure: AI-powered hostels, modern labs, high-speed internet
· School Feeding: Daily meals, health services, menstrual hygiene, mental health support
No Nigerian Child Will Be Left Behind
The manifesto promises universal early childhood education, inclusive facilities for children with disabilities, assistive technologies, and special educators ensuring “no child will be left behind.”
Students will enjoy protected independent unionism, while universities will gain full autonomy from political interference with transparent governance.
Research and innovation will receive merit-based grants focusing on medicine, AI, renewable energy, biotechnology, climate science, defence technology, and public health.
A “National Education & Innovation Cloud” will provide digital libraries, AI learning assistants, virtual labs, and open educational resources accessible to every student and teacher nationwide.
Sports, arts, music, theatre, literature, film, and culture will also receive full funding, with Sowore emphasising that “talent + education = total development.”
Education: The Battleground for 2027
With Nigeria grappling with millions of out-of-school children, underfunded universities, poor teacher welfare, and an education system struggling to meet technological and labour market demands, education has emerged as a defining campaign issue ahead of the 2027 general election.
Sowore’s proposal adds to a growing chorus of political actors offering competing visions for rescuing Nigeria’s ailing education sector.
