In a stirring celebration of academic brilliance, Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, played host to Master Daniel Osagiobare, the top-performing student in the South-South region and the 4th best in Nigeria in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Master Osagiobare, who achieved an exceptional score of 368 in the highly competitive JAMB exam, was received with high honors at the Government House on Wednesday. The Deputy Governor lauded the young scholar’s extraordinary performance, hailing him as a proud ambassador of Edo State.
During the reception, Idahosa noted that Daniel’s success underscores the immense potential of Edo youths. He emphasized that the young man’s brilliance, discipline, and dedication serve as a powerful example of what can be achieved with the right support and encouragement.
In a statement released by his Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, the Deputy Governor confirmed that the ₦1 million cash gift is both a reward for Daniel’s hard work and a strategic move to ignite a competitive spirit of academic excellence among students across the state.
“The future of our nation lies in the hands of brilliant young minds like Daniel. His outstanding performance has not only made his family proud but has also placed Edo State in the national spotlight for excellence. We will continue to celebrate and encourage excellence in every sector,” Idahosa stated.
Reaffirming the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to education, the Deputy Governor pledged to continue creating an enabling environment for talented youths to thrive and compete globally.
