“Patriotism in action” that’s how Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan described Air Peace after the airline flew 533 stranded Nigerians home from South Africa in two heroic evacuation missions.
The Kogi Central senator praised the airline’s chairman, management, and staff for stepping up when fellow citizens needed help most, proving that corporate greatness isn’t just about profits it’s about people.
Air Peace completed its second evacuation flight on Tuesday, bringing 271 Nigerians aboard a Boeing 777-200 in partnership with the Federal Government. Combined with the first mission, the airline has now rescued a total of 533 compatriots from xenophobic tensions abroad.
This marks Air Peace’s 16th humanitarian intervention a track record that has cemented its reputation as a national treasure.
“True leadership is measured by compassion and commitment to humanity,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said in a statement from her media office. “The safe return of our compatriots is a remarkable achievement. It reflects solidarity and love of country that every institution should uphold.”
The senator also applauded the seamless collaboration between the airline and the government, calling it a blueprint for emergency response. “This is what happens when government and responsible private firms work together in the national interest. Air Peace has proven it is not just an airline, but a dependable national partner.”
She extended a warm welcome to the returnees, praying for new beginnings and better opportunities back home. “On behalf of Kogi Central, I welcome our brothers and sisters back. This new chapter brings peace, hope, and better opportunities for all.”
With a history of evacuating Nigerians from conflict and crisis zones worldwide, Air Peace continues to soar as a symbol of Nigerian excellence and history, the senator said, will remember its golden deeds.
