On Friday, there was a fire outbreak at Binuyo Compound, off Sabo Line, Isale Maliki area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
According to reports, the fire destroyed a six-bedroom flat belonging to one Alhaja Kadijat Suleiman.
If not for the timely intervention of the Disaster Management Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and men of the Kwara State Fire Service, the fire would have destroyed the whole compound.
Speaking to the newsmen, the spokesman of the NSCDC in the State, Babawale Zaid Afolabi revealed that the fire outbreak was caused by electric spark largely due to substandard cable used during the electrical connection of the building.
He added;
“Our officers from the Disaster Management Unit and men of the state fire service responded swiftly and were able to prevent the inferno from spreading to the nearby buildings.”
