The Gombe State Government has directed Gombawa Motors Nigeria Limited to vacate the Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo Mega Park, just two days after the transport firm publicly endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Professor Isa Pantami.
An eviction notice, dated June 25, 2026, and issued by Mayo Ani Managing Director of Principal Facilities Management Limited, the park’s management firm gave the company 24 hours to leave the state-owned terminal.
The letter cited a resolution by the Mega Park Management Committee, claiming the expulsion was due to repeated operational violations, non-compliance with management directives, and complaints from other park users. Copies were sent to security agencies including the police, DSS, and NSCDC.
While the notice made no mention of politics, the company’s Secretary, Muhammad Umar, rejected the justification, calling it a retaliatory move. He noted that the timing immediately after their political endorsement raises serious questions about political interference, and faulted the notice for not clearly spelling out the alleged offences.
Umar also argued that the park’s restructuring had concentrated transport operations under government control, and described the eviction as a violation of the company’s constitutional rights to freedom of association and fair hearing.
The General Manager of Gombe Line, Dr Sani Sabo, defended the action, insisting that Gombawa Motors is not above the law and that the decision was strictly based on park regulations.
As of report time, the state government had not officially responded to the allegations of political victimisation, maintaining that the eviction was purely an enforcement of operational rules.
