ICSAN organises Walk 4 Life, advises Nigerians to pay attention to their health, carry out exercise regularly

Members of the public, secretaries and administrators in Nigeria have been advised to pay attention to their health by being intentional in carrying out exercise, eating good food and regular sugar and weight checks and control.

The advice was contained in a public talk at this year’s “Walk 4 Life” program organised by Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) Edo and Delta chapter by Medical Lab. Scientist, Mrs Odaro Joy Oghoghosa.

Mrs. Joy Oghoghosa who said the topic was in line with this year’s theme; Walk 4 Life, added that knowing one’s numbers as pertains to blood glucose check of 160-120 which is normal and 130-140 referred to as pre-diabetic and 140 and above (diabetic) would help individuals live healthy life.

He stressed that “the key to not falling prey to these disease conditions or prevention is to eat food moderately, intentional about walking, parlour exercise and regular check to ascertain blood pressure.

The Medical Lab Scientist of over 22 years working experience particularly decried company Secretaries and Administrators who engage in services without paying utmost attention to their health, vital signs including sugar check and control thereby endangering their lives.

Earlier in her address, the chairperson of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Edo and Delta State chapter, Barrister Agatha Dumebi Nwanji, revealed that the exercise was a fitness programme organised by the national body in Lagos annually and followed suit simultaneously at the state level for members and non-members.

Barrister Agatha Nwanji who enphasised that ‘health is wealth ‘ pointed out that without healthy body no one can work effectively and efficiently hence ICSAN considered it very necessary to organize the Walk 4 Life involving health talk and tips, dancing and free BP blood check.

The chairperson disclosed that the Walk 4 Life of this year also aimed at advertising the institute forth coming conference slated for 12th to 13th September 2024 at Lagos.

The Edo and Delta State ICSAN chairperson who expressed satisfaction with this year’s exercise called on people to “come and join us to be Chartered Secretary as there’s lot to gain here”.

She mentioned some of the functions of the body to include, carrying out training from time to time to equip members to be up to date in modern trends and learning; raising up seasoned employers/practitioners who are vested on value of corporate governance which according to her, is the key to the substance of any organisation be it private or public.
