Major World Cup Twist: FIFA Clears Folarin Balogun, Trump Declares ‘Justice Served’
US President Donald Trump has welcomed FIFA’s decision to suspend the red card issued to United States striker Folarin Balogun, clearing the Arsenal-born forward to feature in the country’s crucial FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash against Belgium.
The decision came after Balogun was sent off during the USA’s World Cup match against Bosnia, a dismissal that initially ruled him out of Monday’s knockout fixture.
Reacting to FIFA’s announcement, Trump praised football’s world governing body for overturning what he described as an unfair decision.
“Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform shortly after the announcement.
The suspension of the red card gives the United States a significant boost ahead of its high-stakes encounter with Belgium, with Balogun expected to play a key role as the Americans chase a place in the World Cup quarter-finals.
FIFA’s ruling has sparked widespread discussion among football fans, with many viewing the decision as a major turning point for the USA’s World Cup campaign.
