A special police team of operatives under the Operation Puff Adder in Bayelsa state has smashed series of kidnap cases including the abduction of the wife of a prominent businessman, Mrs. Vivian Okoye and three other, .two medical doctors Dr. Eleweremi Samuel and Dr. Alex Ogregade Ilemokun Alex.
Key suspects in some of the high profile cases have been arrested and the operatives of the Operation Puff Adder led by Supol Chris Nwaogbo are on the trail of other members of the kidnap gangs with their den destroyed.
Among the high profile cases being solved with the arrest of key suspects are the abduction and rescue of two medical doctors Dr. Eleweremi Samuel and Dr. Alex Ogregade Ilemokun Alex. Also being resolved by the Bayelsa state police command is the abduction and rescue of a 69-year-old woman, Madam Ruth Didikabue from the Ikaramah community in Yenagoa local government area.
It was gathered that two key suspects allegedly involved in the arrest of the wife of the prominent Bayelsa businessman, Mrs. Vivian Okoye ,have been arrested with the Hilux used in the January 29th abduction recovered by the police.
The owner of the hilux used in the kidnap, Dickson Ikegima, 46years old and the driver of the vehicle, Dimi Nixon,31years old was arrested. Also in the custody of the Bayelsa Police Command are suspects involved in the abduction of the 69 years old woman,Madam Ruth Didikabue.
One Prince Ziah alias Kala was arrested and identified as the food supplier to the kidnap camp of the suspects between JK 3 and JK 4 community of Ikarama community of Biseni clan in Yenagoa Local Government area.
Another suspect was arrested over the allege kidnap of the Dr. Eleweremi Samuel at his residence at Captain Ayeni Street, Yenagoa, on 22 July, 2020, by unknown gunmen.
The Police Command in a statement issued and signed by the Spokesperson, Asinim Butswat,” A suspect believed to be behind the Kidnap was arrested on 2nd August, 2020 and he is now under interrogation in Police custody. It is believed that the arrest of this suspect mounted pressure on the hoodlums, forcing them to release the victim on 8 August, 2020”.
“The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command, CP Mike Okoli has debriefed the victim who has volunteered useful information that will assist the Police in the investigation”
