Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned Urhobo music icon, Prof. Johnson Oyibode Adjan, describing his death as a monumental loss to the Urhobo nation and the preservation of indigenous cultural heritage.

In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, Dafinone paid glowing tribute to the late cultural legend, affectionately known as “The Ogburine,” noting that Prof. Adjan was one of the finest custodians of Urhobo traditions and identity.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Prof. Johnson Oyibode Adjan, affectionately known as ‘The Ogburine,’ a towering figure in Urhobo music and one of the finest custodians of our cultural heritage,” the senator stated.

Through his distinctive artistic style and thought-provoking lyrics, he inspired generations and strengthened their connection to their cultural roots.

“His work served as a bridge between the past and the present, ensuring that our culture remained vibrant and relevant,” Dafinone said.

The senator further described the late musician as a respected cultural ambassador whose influence transcended the music industry. He commended Prof. Adjan’s unwavering commitment to promoting the Urhobo language, customs, and traditional wisdom, a dedication that earned him admiration both within Nigeria and internationally.
