DETAILS

Delta state police commissioner, Mohammed Ali, has condemned the gruesome murder of policemen in parts of the state. The police boss believes that there are syndicate groups involved in the recurrent killings of policemen, warning that such groups should desist from the ignoble act.

He said if the killer groups fail to turn a new leaf, they should be ready to dance to the music. His reaction followed the killing of a policeman in Warri on Thursday. He said the police command in the state is worried over the continuously killing of police who are carrying out their lawful duties in the state.

While reiterating his resolve to fish out members of the syndicate who had been behind the series of killings of policemen in the state, CP Aliu, reaffirmed his commitment to the safety of men and officers in every part of the state where they are posted to serve.

According to him; “From the records of killings so far, we have come to realise that those responsible for the killings of policemen and carting away their rifles are members of a syndicate, especially that of cult groups, desperately in need of arms and ammunitions to gain superiority advantage over other rival groups in a particular area”.

“We are not leaving anything to chances anymore as we have intensified our own internal security strategy and network aimed at curbing the excesses of these syndicates in some strategic locations in the state”.

“Just recently we initiated a ‘Permanent Pin Down Checkpoints’ in some strategic locations especially within the Warri area and its environs where this crime appears to be on the increase in recent time and we have deployed more men for this purpose”.

While admonishing members of the community to partner the police in the ongoing violent crimes in the society by divulging useful information that could lead to the arrest of these criminals, CP Aliu noted that its only with this kind of useful information that the police can work effectively.

Meanwhile, the police boss who had been an operational officer all through his years in the Force, also charged his men and officers, especially those with service rifles to be at alert everytime wherever they are so as to avoid being a victim of this callous act by the criminals.
