ADO EKITI — Voting commenced across Ekiti State on Saturday morning, with elderly and first-time voters defying physical challenges and early morning rains to participate in the gubernatorial election.
At Polling Unit 015, Registration Area 2, in Ado Ekiti Local Government Area, accreditation and voting kicked off promptly at 8:30 a.m. Among the first to cast her ballot was 56-year-old Ojo Omowumi Hannah, who arrived in a wheelchair and was assisted by electoral officials a powerful symbol of democratic resilience.
In Ekiti West Local Government Area, polling was ongoing at Unit 03, Ward 6, where an elderly woman was seen exercising her franchise under the watchful eyes of INEC officials.
At Open Space Akinlaja Hall, Polling Unit 011, Atiba Aafin, Ward 01, Ikere Ekiti, 20-year-old Adesola Bello told reporters she was driven by a passion for good governance.
“I am interested in good governance; that is why I came out to vote for the candidate of my choice. I want the government to empower physically challenged persons in society,” she said.
Across multiple polling units observed, accreditation and voting proceeded simultaneously, with voters expressing hope for a transparent process.
