The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of Phillip Barikui, the protocol aide to the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, and another unidentified man in Bori.
Police spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, said the investigation is ongoing and appealed to members of the public with useful information to come forward and assist the police in identifying and arresting those responsible.
Barikui was reportedly shot dead by unidentified assailants on Monday at Makoro Street in Bori. Another man was also attacked during the incident.
The second victim sustained gunshot injuries and was taken to an undisclosed hospital in Bori for treatment but later died.
The latest killing occurred about two weeks after the reported death of Letam Kinee, popularly known as Langa, an appointee and member of the Khana Local Government Area Sanitation Committee. Kinee was reportedly killed along the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic Road in Bori.
The two incidents have raised fresh concerns about security in Khana Local Government Area, as police continue efforts to determine those behind the attacks.The police have urged anyone with relevant information to cooperate with investigators as efforts continue to bring those responsible to justice.
