A newly married woman, Mrs. Janet Etule, who borrowed the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand thousand (N250.000) naira from a money lender to pay her daughter’s tuition fee has cried out for help as her husband has thrown her belongings out of his house.
An eye witness told Emerald News that the woman of about 50 years old got married a year ago to a widower.
Our source also said that Mrs. Etule who lives in Asaba with her husband complained that her daughter she got from her first husband was about to lose her admission into a polytechnic, so she ran to a money lender who lent her the money which she quickly sent to her daughter.
Emerald News gathered that the woman who could not meet up with the N30.000 interest on the loan every month accumulated over eight hundred thousand (N800.000) naira within few months.
Emerald News gathered that when the money lender pestered her several times without getting a dime from her, he called a police officer for Mrs. Etule who immediately got her arrested.
Our source said that the woman pleaded with the police and the money lender to give her some time to raise the money from her relatives as she does not have any work or business doing to pay the loan.
Our source said that when her husband heard about the case, he got upset and threw his wife’s property out of his house.
This meduim gathered that her friend who suretied her was also arrested along with her before they were released and asked to go and look for the money.
Our source said that neighbours, friends and relatives have been begging Mrs. Etule’ s husband to allow her stay in his house while she looks for financial help, he bluntly declined.
Mrs. Etule has been bombarded with abusive words from everyone that heard about the case because she borrowed the money without telling her husband especially when she knew she is jobless.
She kept on pleading for forgiveness while telling them that she did what she did because of her daughter whom she said was stranded in school without any help.
