Police, kidnappers exchange gunfire in Delta, rescue kidnap victim as hoodlums escape with gunshot injuries
Delta state police have rescued a kidnap victim, one Mr. Emmanuel James following exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers.
In a statement by the police public relations officer, Edafe Bright, and made available to Emerald News, the rescue operation followed an exchange of gun battle with the kidnappers and policemen in Ughelli North.
The police officers were said to have been mobilised from the Eagle Net special squad.
The police public relations officer basis the commander of Eagle Net received a distress call of an attempted kidnap at Usiefurun community by railway bridge.
He said the commander mobilised men of Eagle Net special squad to the area and on arrival, the hoodlums on sighting them, opened fire on them.
He said the police retaliated in full force and an exchange of gun battle ensued.
Edafe said the unrelenting efforts and the superior power of the police, made the hoodlums to abandon the victim and escaped we the gunshot wounds to the nearby bush
He said the victim, James Emmanuel, was eventually rescued and in the process his snatched Toyota Venza Keep was recovered
