Ughelli, the local government headquarters of Ughelli North in Delta state has been in the eye of the storm. It has been trending for the wrong reasons. It was where the report of a fake video came out that led to the #EndSARS protest which spread across the world.
The protest led to the death of so many persons, the destruction of properties, killing of policemen, burning of police stations and looting of warehouses both private and public. The Delta state police commissioner, Hafiz Muhammad Inuwa, has said the young man who raised the alarm has been arraigned in court.
Again, the town is heavily bedeviled with cultists who are destroying themselves, and carrying out reprisal attacks on each other. The reports of cult killings and counter attacks are becoming so much in Ughelli town. Almost on a daily basis, there are reports of one cult war or the other and the end is always one down.
The youths in that community are becoming too violent and they needed to be brought under control. From Afiesere to Oteri to Otovwodo, all in Ughelli, there are continuous reports of cult clashes, leaving behind death, blood and wanton destruction. Should this be allowed bro continue?
The chairman of the local government, traditional rulers and community leaders must wake up to their billings and save that community from cult boys and deadly gangs.
