As political activities gather momentum ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, former Edo State governorship candidate and influential All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has urged his supporters to unite behind the party’s officially endorsed candidates, declaring that the future of the APC is more important than individual political ambition.
In a statement addressed to party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders across Edo South, Nigeria, and the diaspora, Ize-Iyamu accepted the outcome of the APC Edo South Senatorial primary election in good faith and called on his loyalists to do the same.
He described the completion of the party’s primary process as a defining moment that requires every APC member to set aside personal interests and work together for victory in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the APC remains a platform built on service, sacrifice, discipline, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians. He stressed that while political contests may produce winners and losers, they should never weaken the unity or collective purpose of the party.
The former governorship candidate thanked party leaders, coordinators, volunteers, women, youths, grassroots mobilisers, and supporters who stood firmly behind his senatorial ambition. He also expressed appreciation to Nigerians in the diaspora who backed his campaign and encouraged them to remain committed to the development of Edo South.
Calling for reconciliation, Ize-Iyamu urged party members to reject division and political bitterness, insisting that unity will be essential if the APC hopes to secure victory in future elections. He pledged to continue working closely with party leaders and stakeholders to strengthen the APC and advance development across the Edo South Senatorial District.
He maintained that the real task now is not dwelling on the concluded primary election but focusing on building a stronger political platform capable of delivering good governance and improving the welfare of the people.
His remarks come at a crucial time as political parties across Nigeria begin strategic preparations for the 2027 general elections, with internal unity expected to play a decisive role in determining electoral success.
