Renowned Niger Delta environmentalist, rights activist, and Ijaw leader and development advocate, Chief Comrade Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has extended congratulations to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on his election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria.

In a press statement issued in Warri and made available to newsmen, Chief Mulade, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom, described the emergence of Rt. Hon. Guwor as well-deserved, noting that his unanimous election during the extraordinary session of the Conference held in Abuja on Monday reflects the high confidence his colleagues repose in his leadership capacity.

He observed that Rt. Hon. Guwor’s return unopposed is a testament to his sterling qualities, proven integrity, and remarkable track record of diligent service, particularly during his tenure as Treasurer of the Conference since 2023. According to Chief Mulade, the Delta Speaker has consistently demonstrated maturity, administrative competence, and a consensus-building approach to legislative leadership.

The Ijaw leader further stated that Rt. Hon. Guwor brings to his new assignment a wealth of experience garnered from years of legislative practice, effective stewardship of the Delta State House of Assembly, sound financial management, and his ability to foster unity among lawmakers across political and regional divides. He added that these qualities position him to strengthen inter-legislative collaboration, promote institutional reforms, and advance democratic governance at the sub-national level.

Chief Mulade expressed confidence that under Rt. Hon. Guwor’s chairmanship, the Conference of Speakers will witness renewed vigor, progressive policy engagement, and strengthened advocacy for legislative independence and development-driven laws nationwide.

He wished the new Chairman a successful tenure and assured him of the continued support and goodwill of stakeholders across Delta State and the Niger Delta region.
