Dr. Michael Nwoko, a former aide to the immediate past governor of Delta state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on the constituents of Delta North senatorial district to have confidence in the ability of their Senator-elect, Prince Ned Nwoko, to deliver on his campaign promises.
Popularly called Political Oshobe, Dr. Nwoko, who was Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Health Monitoring, made the call in an interview with Emerald News, an online newspaper.
According to him, Prince Nwoko is a man of his words, who has come to deliver the dividends of democracy to all and sundry in the constituency.
“He (Prince Nwoko) is totally determined at ensuring that people oriented constituency projects are executed across the nooks and crannies of the senatorial district. He is determined towards forming synergy with the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, towards ensuring that federal projects are attracted to Anioma land,” he said.
While describing the Senator-elect as a compassionate leader, he expressed optimism that Prince Ned Nwoko will alleviate the sufferings of the people in the area.
In Oko area that is prone to annual flooding, Dr. Michael Nwoko said Prince Nwoko will work with all government agencies such as NDDC, federal ministry of works and DESOPADEC to bring succour to the people in that area.
“When we visited Oko in Oshimili south during the campaigns, it became a passionate case. In fact, he wept when he saw the condition of living of the people. When he looked at the potentials that are lying fallow in such a wonderful land, he wept,” Dr. Nwoko recounted.
On the perennial flooding that ravages the area, Dr. Nwoko, popularly known as Political Oshobe, said that Prince Nwoko is a visionary leader, who is ready to tackle the problem in the senatorial district headlong and change the landscape of the area for good.
He told Emerald News that: “The flooding situation that ravages that area is terrible. The last one was a real disaster. The water level rendered people homeless for months. This is totally unacceptable. He has said it; he will do it. He will not wait until the flood comes again, no.
“He will address it from the beginning so that the issue is addressed before the flood situation comes again. He has clearly articulated his plans on how he is going to achieve his goal. He has already thought out how he will drive that effectively,” he stated.
Dr. Nwoko, while commending former Governor Okowa for his efforts in bringing succour to the people, stressed that he is confident that the Senator-elect will work with relevant stakeholders to drive developmental projects in the constituency, especially in the areas of infrastructure and tourism, so as to help in boosting the economy of Delta state.
On the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, which will take place on Tuesday, June 13, he emphasized that Prince Nwoko was eager to hit the ground running, without any waste of time.
“He is in a hurry to assume office so that he can begin delivering on his electioneering promises. Within the first quarter, he should be able to give account of what he has done. Anioma people will have a feel of what it takes to have a representative at the National Assembly. You will see the difference. He is going to begin the moment he is inaugurated as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he posited.
Dr. Nwoko also stressed that Prince Nwoko’s decision to host the inauguration party among his constituents in Delta North is a sign that the leader would be accessible to his people.
According to him: “He said he won’t do any reception in Abuja. The ceremony will be at home. He wants more people to participate. He would not want to fly a few persons to Abuja. By all standards, every person who voted him into office has equal right, so why shortchange some by hosting the ceremony in Abuja?”
He therefore called on the good people of Anioma land to rally round Prince Nwoko in his quest to make life better to the region.
“My message therefore is that Anioma people should brace up because they would be called upon to be corporately involved in the process that will bring about a total transformation and revitalization of Anioma land. They should make themselves available to be involved in the Anioma project,” he stated.
