Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has received international recognition from the United States House of Representatives for what was described as his transformative leadership and commitment to development in the state.
The honour comes ahead of Uzodimma’s scheduled address to the House of Lords in London, where he is also expected to receive the African Inspirational Leadership and Good Governance Award from the African Leadership Organization.
In a motion introduced by Representative Rosalyn D. Henderson-Myers, the South Carolina House of Representatives commended the governor for implementing his 3R agenda Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery which it said has driven major improvements in infrastructure, urban renewal and digital transformation across Imo State.
The resolution, signed by Speaker G. Murrell Smith Jr. and Clerk Charles F. Reid, praised Uzodimma’s commitment to inclusive governance, economic revitalisation and sustainable development, describing him as one of Nigeria’s leading sub-national reformers.
Lawmakers also highlighted the governor’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business through investor-friendly reforms that have attracted both local and foreign investment. They cited landmark projects, including the Assumpta Twin Flyover and the Orashi Energy Free Trade Zone, as key initiatives supporting regional economic growth.
Receiving the recognition in London on behalf of the governor, Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, described the honour as global recognition of Uzodimma’s commitment to the development of Imo State.Emelumba said the award would encourage the governor to continue pursuing policies aimed at improving the state while contributing to Nigeria’s and Africa’s broader development. He added that the recognition reflects growing international appreciation for leaders driving meaningful reforms across the continent.
