Nigerian security forces have rescued worshippers abducted during an attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Ekiti State, bringing an end to a months-long ordeal that began on April 28, 2026.
The rescue operation was carried out through sustained intelligence-led efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and the Ekiti State Government.
According to a statement issued by the Ekiti State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, the victims have been taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Police confirmed that one of the kidnapped worshippers died while in captivity before the rescue operation was concluded.
Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, praised the coordinated efforts of all security agencies and stakeholders, describing the operation as a testament to effective collaboration in combating kidnapping.
He also commended Ekiti State Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his administration’s continued support for security agencies, which he said contributed significantly to the successful rescue mission.
The police commissioner thanked residents for providing timely and credible intelligence and urged members of the public to remain vigilant by reporting suspicious activities to security authorities.Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest those responsible for the abduction, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
