Amidst standing trial in the United Kingdom, Ike Ekweremadu, the former deputy senate president, lands another court case.
On Friday, 4 November, an Abuja High Court issued an order of interim forfeiture of 40 landed properties belonging to the former deputy senate president.
As reported by Daily Post, the 40 landed properties affected by the interim forfeiture order are scattered thus; 15 in Abuja, 10 in Enugu, nine in Dubai, three in the United States of America, two in the United Kingdom, and one in Lagos.
The trial Judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, ordered the forfeiture following an ex-parte motion filed and moved by Ibrahim Buba on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The EFCC has been ordered by the Judge to publish the interim forfeiture order of the properties in a national daily within seven days from the day the order was given.
The case has been adjourned to 5 December, 2022, for a report on the objection from any member of the public regarding the properties.
