Nigerian filling stations have reduced petrol prices by between N35 and N90 per litre in August, following a reduction in Dangote Refinery’s petrol price.
Major fuel marketers in Abuja and surrounding areas have cut pump prices to between N1,210 and N1,275 per litre, down from N1,305 to N1,335 at the end of July.
The reductions followed Dangote Refinery’s N45 cut in its gantry price, from N1,210 to N1,165 per litre.
The development comes as Nigeria’s domestic refining sector continues to play a growing role in the country’s fuel supply, with potential implications for energy costs across Africa’s largest economy.
Dangote Refinery’s petrol was also reported to be N53.54 cheaper than imported fuel, whose landing cost stood at N1,218.54 per litre.
