All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Babafemi Ojudu has criticised the backlash he faced after raising concerns over the alleged abandonment of construction work on the Akure–Ado-Ekiti road.
Ojudu, a former presidential media aide, said he drew attention to the condition of the road because it affects citizens and communities, including the city where he lives.
His comments reportedly attracted criticism from some APC members, who viewed them as an attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Responding in another Facebook post, Ojudu questioned whether belonging to a political party should prevent citizens from demanding accountability from government.
He argued that party loyalty should not require members to support every government action without questioning issues that affect the public.
Ojudu maintained that raising concerns about abandoned public infrastructure is part of a citizen’s responsibility.
He stressed that his membership of the APC does not remove his rights and responsibilities as a Nigerian, adding that he can commend the government when it performs well and question it when he believes something has gone wrong.
